The 3 Days Kampala city tour is designed to enable you explore Kampala city in detail. The 3 Days tour will take you through the city’s sites of historical, religious, commercial and cultural significance and the way of life of the urban inhabitants. It incorporates visits to the slum areas to encounter the urban poor and then a stretch to the well to do suburbs to have an encounter with the urban rich. Visiting religious centers like Gadhafi National Mosque, Baha’i Temple, Namirembe and Rubaga Cathedrals will give you an understanding of the range of religious denominations that thrive in Kampala and Uganda in general. The stretch to the heritage center like the Uganda Museum, cultural site of Buganda including Kasubi tombs and Lubiiri palace will enable you understand the traditions of Uganda. The visit to the historical sites like Namugongo Martyrs shrine, the educational institutions like Makerere University and the down town centers like Owino Market combine to generate ultimate memories.

Day 1: Explore the cultural, educational, religious & historical sites of Kampala (Kasubi tombs, Bulange, Lubiri Palace, Namirembe & Rubaga Cathedrals, Gadhafi Mosque, Makerere University, walks through down town including Owino market).
encounter with the highest institution of learning in Uganda and East Africa at large always referred to as the ivory with a profusion of students from different parts of the region and beyond thriving in a calm natural environment. Continue with the drive to Kasubi tombs the royal burial grounds for the Kingdom of Buganda where you will marvel at a huge dome shaped traditional hut that shelters the bodies of these ancient kings. At the site, you will have an experiential cultural immersion in the Kiganda setting learning their dressing code and some of their practices. From Kasubi you will visit the Namirembe and Rubaga Cathedrals for the Anglican and Catholic religions respectively appearing in magnificent architecture. It would be rewarding if you find prayers going on & you attend the mass to see how Ugandans pray. You can settle for lunch at any of the preferred standard restaurants in the area before continuing to visit the Bulange which is the parliament of Buganda with its amazing architecture but most importantly to see how a centralized Kingdom of Buganda had gone ahead to establish a democratic process of consultative leadership. From here you can walk along the Royal Mile to the Lubiri Palace which is the seat for the King of Buganda. You will have an opportunity to learn about the Kiganda history and traditions. The palace was also used as a military barracks after the abolition of traditional Monarchy in 1966 by Apollo Milton Obote 1 and after the 1971 Military coup that brought Idi Amin in power; an underground torture chamber was built to deal with the suspected opponents. Indeed you will come to believe that the aim of the chambers was achieved when you look at the blood stained walls, words of misery written by the victims using blood in this horrific chamber. It will give you a snapshot of what it meant to live in the dictatorial regime of Idi Amin Dada who ruled Uganda from 1971 – 1979. From Lubiri, you will visit the Gadhafi National Mosque, hike the minaret to gain impressive views of Kampala city after which you will crown your first day with a walk through down town Owino Market the second largest second hand clothes Market in Africa, taxi park and Bus park before continuing to the city center to mark the end of your days’ experiences. Dinner and overnight at your place of stay.

Day 2: Explore the Urban rich and the poor in Kampala
This day is dedicated to enable you explore the urban rich and the poor in Kampala city. Kampala has got slum areas with some groups of people living below the standard conditions. You can reach out to these slums and explore the lifestyle of the mode of livelihood of their residents. The most famous slum of Katanga close to Wandegeya suburb and from here you can stretch to Bwaise which is mostly affected by floods, and Nakulabye Kiwunya. Directly opposite to this are the top notch rich suburbs of Kololo, Tank Hill Muyenga, Naguru Hill top and Nakasero. Thus, after breakfast you will embark on the drive through these slum areas beginning with Katanga continuing through Bwaise, Kawala and Nakulabye Kiwunya. In some areas, you will have to walk through narrow paths that connect to these areas crossing sewage channels on timber poles exploring deeply the life of these slum dwellers including what they eat and where they sleep. From there you will come back to Kampala center for lunch after which you will drive through the top notch suburbs of Kololo, Nakasero and Muyenga experiencing magnificent mansions with beautifully landscaped gardens and terraces and completely un polluted environment understanding the gap that exist between these two groups of people in detail. Retire for dinner and overnight at your place of stay.

Day 3: Explore Uganda Museum, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine & the Baha’i Temple
After breakfast, you will drive to the Uganda Museum to have an encounter with the National heritage that dates back to the ancient times. There are a range of artifacts that are housed in the Uganda Museum including historical vehicles, items of archaeological significance, maps and pictures of important events, traditional musical instruments that all combine to a rewarding gallery that you can ever encounter on Uganda safari. A gift shop at the museum offers you an opportunity to get a souvenir for this 3 Days Kampala trip. The traditional architectural huts behind the Museum represent a range of tribal groups in Uganda. After this encounter, you will drive to Namugongo Martyrs Shrine to have an encounter at a place where the committed Ugandans accepted to be executed for the sake of religion. They were commemorated Martyrs and are recognized worldwide. This is a great site of religious significance and faith. You will drive in the afternoon to Baha’i House of Worship at the Crest of Kikaya to encounter the only temple of the Baha’i faith on the continent of Africa. You will marvel at the magnificent architecture and have a relaxing moment in the lush gardens that are filled with great fresh air on top of the hill with impressive views of the surrounding areas. You will retire back to Kampala to mark the end of the tour.
