Mountain gorillas are one of the most critically endangered species according to IUCN. Only 880 mountain gorillas are remaining in the world and none of them is in captivity. 400 of these species thrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda while the rest dwell in the Virunga massif. Thus, undertaking a 3 Day Bwindi gorilla safari does not only serve your leisure interests but it also contributes to the conservation of these precious species. Trekking through the impenetrable jungle of Bwindi with its rugged terrain can be considered as a different experience of its own.

Safari Highlight:

Day 1: Travel by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Stop at Uganda Equator crossing Kayabwe & a lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Center.
Day 2: Do gorilla trekking & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for evening boat cruise and relaxation
Day 3: Travel by road back to Kampala.

Day 1: Travel by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Embark on the journey to the southwest of Uganda after an early breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala. After 77km, you will make a stop at the Equator crossing – Kayabwe for photo shooting and participating in the water experiments to evidence the separation of the northern and southern hemispheres. A continuous drive through the farmed hill sides and the urban environments of Masaka will eventually lead you to another stop at Igongo cultural center 12km to Mbarara town for lunch. The delicious meal at Kahwa Kanuzire restaurant will give you a taste of traditional cuisine. Proceed on your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to arrive in the evening for relaxation and overnight. The journey to Bwindi is 530km about 10 hours’ drive from Kampala.
Accommodation: Chameleon Hill Lodge (Upmarket/Luxury), Gorilla Mist Camp (Midrange/Standard) or Broad bill Forest Camp (Budget/Basic).
Day 2: Do gorilla trekking.
After your early morning breakfast, gather at the Park Headquarters Buhoma for briefing from the park rangers about the conduct of gorilla trekking activity. After the short briefing, you embark on the challenging trek through the impenetrable jungle of Bwindi with its rugged landscape involving valleys, swamps, steep slopes and rocky areas amidst amazing jungle sounds and bird songs which is an attraction in its self. You will finally come across these endangered apes in thriving in their ancient habitat foraging or socializing. You will marvel at the gorillas as they welcome you, interact and finally say bye when your one hour with them is used up. The opportunity to take as many photos as you can is availed to you while asking questions to your guide about these apes is up to your discretion. Retreat from the activity & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for an evening relational boat cruise exploring some of its 29 islands.

Day 3: Travel by road back to Kampala.
After your breakfast, embark on the journey back to Kampala. The drive will expose you to country side sceneries and economic activities that have sustained the lives of the local communities for centuries past among which include extensive Banana plantation and cattle keeping. You will make a stop for lunch at Igongo cultural center 12km past Mbarara. You can opt for a 30 – 40 minutes’ tour in the cultural museum (Optional) after which you will continue on the drive to Kampala to arrive in the evening.
