Overview:

Lake Mburo located in the traditional range lands of the Bahima pastoralists is known for its rolling savannah combretum dotted with range of acacia tree species that supports the highest populations of Impala in Uganda. Additionally, it is one of the few places (protected areas) in Uganda where Burchell’s Zebra can be spotted. The protected area is characterized by five lakes of which Lake Mburo where the park derives its name is fully enclosed with in the park boundaries. Located in the south west of Uganda, the drive to Lake Mburo exposes you to lush country side shaped by the livelihood activities particularly farming that has supported the lives of the local people for centuries past. The safari tour will take you 2 days starting and ending in Kampala but with the opportunity to see zebras, wart hogs, topi, Impala, waterbuck, eland and a range of birds including the grey crowned crane.

Description:

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park & do boat cruise
Transfer from Kampala after breakfast from your place of stay as early as 6am heading to the south west of Uganda. You will drive 240km about 3 – 4 hours to Lake Mburo National Park. The sights of the farmed landscapes and small towns along the route will give you a taste of the country side before getting mesmerized by the rangelands of Ankole that surround Lake Mburo National Park where Ankole Long-horned cattle are seen grazing alongside wildlife particularly the Impala and the zebra. On this journey, you will stop at equator crossing Kayabwe for photo shooting and amazing water experiments to justify the geographical divide between the north and southern hemispheres. You will proceed to arrive in Lake Mburo National Park early for lunch after which you will embark on the 2 hour afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The boat cruise on the calm waters of the Lake Mburo exposes you to an extensive wetland system that eventually adjoins the greater Lake Victoria basin. The sights of Hippos and lake shore birds like African fish eagle will give you a taste of eco-system harmony that still thrive in Africa. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Do morning game drive & transfer to Kampala.
Wake up for a morning game drive departing at 6am where you will drive through the park tracks in search of zebras, topis, Impala, buffaloes, eland, waterbuck, and warthog, among other species. The savannah landscapes with acacia woodland dotted with ancient Precambrian rocks offers you great scenic encounters. You will settle down for relaxation and lunch after which you embark on the return journey to Kampala arriving in the evening.
